It turns out that you can teach an old dog new tricks. It has taken me three hours to successfully configure a newly purchased Microsoft 365 package to my MacBook Air, and it also took four hours to configure the new MacBook Air, but it is done and appears to be working. I have a deepened respect and empathy for my dad who used to cart around a Password Safe device and an old red notebook of ever-changing passwords and login instructions. I have my Password Safe device next to me as I type this post and am seriously considering spending a few hours updating everything in that gem because it does a way better job recalling my online information than I do.
I am a firm believer that it is never too late to learn something new and the older I get, the more willing I am becoming to letting go of what no longer serves me. Maybe this change in sentiment is due to retirement approaching or maybe it is due to understanding that life is short and too precious to spend on anything less than your biggest dreams. I am ending Say Cheez! because I have a new project in the works and am opting to spend my nights and weekends for the next several weeks (maybe months) getting it off the ground. This project excites me and is challenging all the “you can’t do this” and “it will never work” self-talk that is rattling around in my head.
Say Cheez! was a project I started because I wanted connection, and a creative outlet and to pursue my interest in writing. I was afraid no one would read the blog, and it scared me to put myself out there for review, criticism, and whatever else came my way because of the blog. There was a lot of “do not do this” in my mind, but there was also a willingness to try. I have thoroughly enjoyed reminiscing and paying tribute to the past with Say Cheez!, but I am ready to start developing the present with anticipation of what is to come. I appreciate you all taking the time to read Say Cheez! and I love how many of you have reached out and let me know that you look forward to reading the blog each Saturday morning. Thank you for your support and I promise, the best is yet to come. Cheers!
